A journey to becoming an Artist, kickstarted by HRC

In 2022, Eva enrolled in HRC’s Drawing and Painting for Beginners and Intermediates short-course

Eva Rueda, an artist currently enrolled in an online Fine Art course, is on an exciting path of creative growth. By the end of the year, she plans to start her own art business, encompassing all that she has learnt.

In 2022, Eva enrolled in HRC’s Drawing and Painting for Beginners and Intermediates short-course, following previous experience working with watercolours, after being inspired to explore creating with new techniques. “The course offered a variety of techniques, allowing me to experiment and discover what resonated with me” she says. The short-course is designed for students of varying abilities and experience taught over 10- week blocks, covering topics including line, tone, form and perspective as well as colour and composition, using varied materials.

The supportive environment and personalised feedback from tutors and others on the course helped Eva to improve her skills and gain confidence with her technique and work and the use of new materials. “I really liked the experience of being surrounded by other students with same interests in Art because we learnt from each other” she adds.

The course inspired Eva to pursue her Artistic career further, leading her to her current Fine Art online course. “This [HRC] course made me change my mind on using only watercolours in my paintings! It was a change of direction but I felt I was in the right path following that and seeing where it would lead me” she says. Since completing her HRC course, she has exhibited her work at Coffee Lab in Ware, been an Artist in Residence at & By Donna Reeves shop in Ware, and sold paintings to private collectors.

When asked if she would recommend an Art short-course, including HRC’s course offerings, Eva said: “Go for it! All of us started at the same level and everything can be learnt. This is not about talent, it’s about progress! Even if you’re not pursuing a career in Art, this course is fantastic to improve your skills as a hobby”.
