When you have completed this course you could:
  • Apply for an apprenticeship within the industry
  • Work as an Improver in the industry
And you could also complete the following ‘bolt-on’ courses including:
  • 2382 – BS 76761 2018 – Requirements for Electrical Installations (The IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition)
  • 2391- Electrical Inspection and Testing
  • 2396 – Design, Erection and Verification – Level 4
All our courses are designed to cover the full range of topics and tasks as laid down by the awarding body in response to industry requirements. All practical activities are carried out within our state of the art workshops with theory work being a mix of classroom and assignment activities.The course consists of assessment units which assess the competence of a candidate over a wide range of activities. There will be a high emphasis on Health and Safety and correct safe working practices and systems. The qualification covers the underpinning knowledge involved in electrical installation.A level 3 in Electrical is an advanced qualification and will contain Maths to the equivalency of A-levels, and there is a high concentration on Design work which requires research To achieve Level 3 you must achieve 49 credits from the mandatory units. There are lots of perks to this course, including the opportunity to work with local employers, meeting guest speakers who are experts in their field, and working with students in other departments to support projects and activities. Electrical Students can have the opportunity to gain the ECS card and can take advantage of trips to CEF Live and Elexshow. The college run lots of external courses for industry, which can allow students to communicate and possibly seek work placement or work experience.
You will be assessed by various methods testing your knowledge and understanding including:
  • Written exams
  • Online exams
  • Practical assessments
  • Completing a written project
To apply for this course you will need:
  • A level 2 2365 Diploma or equivalent qualifications plus relevant industrial experience.

You will need folders, notepads, pens, pencils, coloured pencils, a scientific calculator and an A3 size folder to hold your project in at the very minimum. Free to those under 19 on 31st August 2021. If you are 19 or over on 31st August 2021, have been a permanent resident in the EU for the last 3 years and are a fee paying new entrant you will pay approx. ยฃ2000 tuition fee for a Level 2 qualification and approx. ยฃ5500 for a Level 3 qualification (these were the fees for 2020/21 and could be subject to change for 2021/22). Fee paying students continuing on the same course for a second year will be charged ยฃ2000 tuition fee for a Level 2 qualification and approx. ยฃ3500 for a Level 3 qualification (these were the fees for 2020/21 and could be subject to change for 2021/22). If you are aged 19-23 you may also be entitled to free training if the course you choose is your first full Level 2 or Level 3 qualification. You may also be required to pay an administration fee, exam fees, kit fee and an Awarding Body Registration fee if applicable.
