The Training for this course is delivered over 41 weeks 2 days per week at the CK Assessment and Training Centre on the Nazeing Glassworks Industrial Estate (10 minutes’ walk from Broxbourne Train Station). 


You will also have to attend the Centre to finalise all the assignment tasks associated with certification. This will include a 3 day practical assessment which your tutor will arrange with you nearer the end of the course.


You will be undertaking a wide range of practical learning and assessments in the workshop, and improving your knowledge of plumbing theory, techniques and regulations in the classroom including:-
how to cut, measure, bend and install pipework in a range of materials
how to fit guttering
installation of cold water storage systems
how to fit hot water cylinders
rules and regulations covering plumbing
how to install a full bathroom suite

Nine online theory exams also need to be successfully passed to complete the course which include:-

Health and Safety
Basic Principles and Processes of Plumbing
Cold and Hot Water Systems
Central Heating
Sanitation and Drainage
Communication

As part of the course students are required to undertake a minimum of 16 hours of work experience within a plumbing environment and will be supported and encouraged to attend work trials for employment opportunities when they arise.

Assessment is continuous throughout the course and includes practical assignments together with online theory exams.

Protective footwear with steel-toe caps must be worn during practical workshop sessions (these can be either boots or trainers).

A keen interest in following a career in Plumbing.
A GCSE Grade 4 or above in Maths and English (language or literature).
You must be able to attend the centre in Nazeing two days per week and arrive by 9:00am each day.
All students must have completed a successful initial assessment and interview to be offered a place on the course.

Free to those under 19 on 31st August of that academic year.

On successful completion of this course you will have developed the skills required to gain employment with a plumber and continue studying to become fully qualified in plumbing and heating.
