The Level 2 Award in Mentoring is designed for individuals who want to develop the knowledge, confidence and practical skills needed to support and guide others effectively. Whether you are a member of staff looking to enhance your professional practice, support colleagues, apprentices or learners, or an external applicant seeking to build mentoring skills for your current or future role, this qualification provides a strong foundation in mentoring principles and techniques.Through a combination of theory and practical application, you will explore the responsibilities of a mentor, learn how to establish productive mentoring relationships, and develop the communication and interpersonal skills needed to support personal and professional growth in others.This qualification is suitable for those working, volunteering, or aspiring to work in education, training, community, business or workplace settings where mentoring can positively impact individual development and success.

Entry Requirements
There are no specific prior skills/knowledge a learner must have for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they have already achieved a level 1 qualification.

To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to successfully achieve 3 units from the mandatory units. 

·       Role of a Mentor

·       Preparing for the Role of a Mentor 

·       Demonstrating Mentoring Skills and Techniques 

Learners must achieve 6 credits from the 3 mandatory units. 

This qualification is internally assessed and externally quality assured via a portfolio of evidence. The qualification is assessed on a Pass or Fail basis. You must meet all learning outcomes and assessment criteria to achieve the qualification

As this is an online course, you will need:

  • Regular access to a computer or laptop
  • A reliable internet connection
  • A working camera and microphone for live online sessions
  • Access to an email account
  • The ability to open, create and upload electronic documents
  • Time outside the scheduled sessions to complete independent study and assessment work
  • A suitable, quiet space in which to participate in online learning

You will also need to engage regularly with the online sessions and complete all required assessment activities by the deadlines provided.

2026/27 fees for this course are currently £375.00 but may be subject to change. Please enquire as to the current fees when applying, funding is available via Adult Skills Fund.
