Level 2 Diploma in Creative Digital Media is designed to provide an opportunity for those with an interest in all areas of digital design, art, photography and film, to explore materials, methods and processes and to develop related skills. The qualification structure provides a foundation for progression within the Creative Industries including Graphic Design, Digital Art, Animation, Games Design and Photography. It is intended that this initial experience of creative and digital design will test students’ commitment and interest in the subject and encourage them to find a niche pathway to develop towards career pathways within the Creative Industries. Students will develop a professional portfolio of work to support progression to their intended career destination and showcase their work professionally in a Final Major Project Exhibition.

You will be working in specialist studios developing creative and technical skills in digital illustration and design, photography, digital art and animation using various software including Adobe CC Photoshop and Illustrator. You will be taught through workshops in practical processes, as well as research and study skills, by industry experienced lecturers. You will work in sketchbooks to explore traditional hands-on mark making and drawing processes as well as printmaking. You will work to industry focused briefs, generating ideas and using contextual research and experimentation to develop your outcomes. You will learn to work independently and will be developing your creative and technical skills, alongside English and maths qualifications. You will build a professional portfolio of work showcasing your own style and interests.
Your course work will be assessed throughout the year, and you will be given feedback to help you reflect and improve your work. The final project of the year, The Final Major Project will be graded and will give you the final grade for the course.
