This level 1 Multiskills programme is designed to support a general understanding of the construction industry and build hand skills at E3/L1.  Assignments and assessments have been selected to support both learners academic and hand skills development.  Opportunities for extension tasks supporting learners business development are available. 

Constructing brickwork models in lime mortar, forming basic carpentry joints and paint finishes within the construction industry that can be evidenced to support global employability.  Most learners choose a trade course as progression within the area and with the skills they have learned.  This course offers invaluable skills, focusing on developing confidence, the ability to take risks with their work, develop basic knowledge of construction, health and safety and developing hand skills.  Learners will learn how to create a strong understanding of formative and summative assessment, and be confident to speak about their work in order to attain employment.
This course is practically based making it a popular choice for new learners.  You will be assessed on each unit with a practical assesment. This qualification also includes a mandatory health and safety assignment.
Students will need to purchase a protective uniform and toe protective footwear to conform to personal protective equipment in our workshops, as well as a recommended reference book and basic stationery.  Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.  Trips will be organised throughout the year and may incur a cost.
A keen passion to progress and work within the construction industry.You will also complete maths and English qualifications if you haven’t got them already as they are essential in this industry.

Site visits, sports and trips alongside your main programme.  You will also continue to study maths and English.
After completing this course there are a number of options available, the most natural and popular progression is onto a level 1 diploma in any trade area.  Successful students, depending on their final grade and attitude could progress onto an apprenticeship, employment or continue training towards supervisory and management positions and qualifications within the industry.
