Suitable for anyone who has previously completed our Introduction to Modern Upholstery Workshop or equivalent, this course builds on the techniques learnt; progressing your understanding of modern upholstery processes with the aim of developing your independent working and decision making skills to enable you to be able to take on small upholstery projects on your own.

Students will learn the skills required to upholster and fit a cover on a simple chair i.e. one with an upholstered seat and back.  Throughout the course you will gain an understanding of the cutting process when fitting a chair and develop your sewing skills as required.

You will need to provide a chair with an upholstered seat and back – without wings or arms. Basic materials are included in the course fee, however students will also need to provide top fabric, any braid or trimmings if required and any bespoke upholstery materials. It is also advisable to bring a notebook with plain paper and a camera (a phone with a camera is more than sufficient).Upholstery tools will be provided for use within the workshop, advice and guidance can be given if you wish to purchase your own kit.
This couse is suitable for anyone who has previously completed our Introduction to Modern Upholstery Workshop or equivalent.

This course is scheduled on a Tuesday evening, 18:30 – 21:00 at our Ware Campus.

All our Art & Design short courses are for aged 18+ unless otherwise specified.

The Department will contact you via email with start-up instructions approximately 1 week before the start of the course.

All our Art & Design short courses and workshops run subject to reaching minimum numbers.  In the event we are unable to run the course/workshop you are booked on to, you will be offered a space on an alternative course or a full refund of the course fee.

We endeavour to remove our courses from the website once they are full, in the unlikely event you are able pay for a course/workshop that is full, you will be offered a space on an alternative course or a full refund of the course fee.
