Multi-Factor Authentication

Due to a change in national policy the College is now required to turn Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) back on for all staff and students when on site.

From Monday 30th March 2026, MFA will be active on all college accounts. This includes Broxbourne and Ware campuses plus CK Gas/Plumbing.

If you’re already exempt from MFA, you can expect no change.

This extra login step will better protect college data from unauthorised access.

What to expect

When logging in, you’ll be asked to confirm your identity using your Authenticator App or via SMS/calls on your phone.

If you’ve already set up MFA — you’re ready to go!

Changed your phone or device? Then please get in contact:

If you’re a student, you should either visit your relevant Technology Centre, or email tc.brox@hrc.ac.uk or tc.ware@hrc.ac.uk

Staff should contact IT Services via email  ithelpdesk@hrc.ac.uk

Top Tips

To reduce the number of times you get asked for MFA, we recommend using the same device/browser wherever possible (i.e. the same HRC classroom desktop/laptop).

VPNs on personal devices will flag the account as risky causing the MFA request to pop up more often.
