Business Apprenticeships for Employers

Business apprenticeships are a great way to upskill your workforce at little to no cost to your business.

These programmes equip employees with the practical skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a wide range of business environments. Apprentices develop expertise in areas such as administration, customer service, project support, communication, and leadership, while gaining valuable workplace experience and working towards a recognised qualification. It’s an effective way to nurture talent, improve productivity, and support career progression within your organisation.

Business Administrator Apprenticeship (Level 3)

This apprenticeship is at Level 3 – equivalent to A-levels – and will equip apprentices with skills and knowledge that can be directly applied in their roles.

This apprenticeship will prepare apprentices for junior and entry-level business roles. It delivers a solid foundation, building key skills in organisation, communication and teamwork, while learning how to use a range of administrative systems to support day-to-day operations.

Start dates are available throughout the year.

Skills Gained
Business administrators have a highly transferable set of skills, knowledge and behaviours that can be applied in all industry sectors.  The Level 3 apprenticeship covers a range of key areas, including: 
  • Information Technology
  • Record / Document Production
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Regulations
  • Project Management

Learners will also develop business communications and lifelong learning skills, applying what you learn on the course to the wider industry context.

Students will have monthly face-to-face sessions in college. All other training and learning will be in the workplace.

Prospective apprentices would typically have already achieved a GCSE (or Level 2 equivalent) at grade 4/C in English and Maths.

Upon completion of the apprenticeship learning programme, learners will undertake a three-month apprenticeship assessment period. 

On successful completion of this course, learners can progress to roles including Senior Administrator, Personal Assistant, or  progress on to a Team Leader career pathway. 

Learners could also pursue relevant degree-level study. 

If you’re a large company, you can fund the course using your apprenticeship levy. SMEs can access government funding to subsidise the cost by 95%, or 100% depending on the age of the apprentice. To find out more click here.

Administration Assistant Apprenticeship (Level 2)

This apprenticeship is at Level 2 – equivalent to GCSEs – and will equip apprentices with skills and knowledge that can be directly applied in their roles.

This apprenticeship is ideal for team members who are looking to start a career in a professional office environment and gain practical, real-world experience. They’ll build key skills in organisation, communication and teamwork, while learning how to use a range of administrative systems to support day-to-day operations.

Start dates are available throughout the year.

Skills Gained

Administration Assistants are found in all sectors and industries, across all sizes of organisation. Learners will gain a highly transferable set of skills and behaviours that can be applied across the public, private, and third sectors. 

The Level 2 apprenticeship covers a range of key areas, including: 

  • Communication
  • Supporting meetings/events
  • Storing information
  • Using software
  • Data entry
  • Team support


Learners will also develop business communications and lifelong learning skills, applying what they learn on the course to the wider industry context.

This apprenticeship is a blend of work shops with monthly face-to-face sessions, taught and carried out on campus.

This means learners will benefit from regular classes with an experienced college tutor as well as a combination of tutor-led work, group exercises and discussion to help them apply theoretical learnings to real-life workplace situations. 

Prospective apprentices would typically have already achieved a GCSE (or Level 1 equivalent) at grade 1/E in English and Maths.

Upon completion of the apprenticeship learning programme, learners will undertake a three-month apprenticeship assessment period. 

The skills and knowledge learners gain throughout this qualification will qualify them for roles including Senior Administrator, Personal Assistant, Office Manager and Business Administratorm, or support them in progressing on a Team Leader career pathway.
