This course is suitable for beginners to upholstery and those with some previous experience. The course is designed to give students the opportunity to explore and apply modern upholstery techniques to a bespoke piece of furniture.

A hardwood stool frame will be provided as part of the course fee. Each week, via demonstration and practical application, students will learn how to strap, fill and cover their piece of furniture with the aim of students completing the stool by the end of the 10 week block.

Students will customise their stool to their own tastes so will need to provide their own top fabric, stool legs and any trimmings. Advice will be given in the first session about types of fabrics and where these items may be purchased from.All other materials are included in the course fee.All tools will be provided for use within the workshop, advice and guidance can be given if you wish to purchase your own kit.

This course is scheduled on a Tuesday evening, 18:30 – 21:00 at our Ware Campus.

All our Art & Design Short Courses are for aged 18+ unless otherwise specified.

The Department will contact you via email with start-up instructions approximately 1 week before the start of the course.

All our Art & Design short courses and workshops run subject to reaching minimum numbers.  In the event we are unable to run the course/workshop you are booked on to, you will be offered a space on an alternative course or a full refund of the course fee.

We endeavour to remove our courses from the website once they are full, in the unlikely event you are able pay for a course/workshop that is full, you will be offered a space on an alternative course or a full refund of the course fee.
