Having gained the Level 2 qualification the level 3 qualification is the next step towards becoming a qualified electrician.

What makes Electrical Installation at HRC special?

  • Along with health and safety principles, you will learn about different types of cables and working environments, as well as inspection, testing and commissioning of electrical installations.
  • You will also gain experience working in our modern workshop that has had a recent £110,000 refurbishment, which simulates the work place.
  • When you have successfully completed this qualification, you will be at an Improver/ Electrician’s Mate level.

After you have successfully completed this course, you can choose to:
  • Enter employment within the electrical industry
  • Complete the National Vocational Qualification in Electrical Installation

    • Fundamental safe working practices
    • Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings
    • Site preparation for working in the construction industry
    • Electrical installation wiring and terminations
    • Fabrication techniques for electrical installation
    • Electrical science and technology

    Throughout the induction period and during the remainder of the year you will be assessed and will be expected to show good, regular attendance, excellent behaviour, conduct and overall progression in all areas of study.The assessments will be a combination of various practical tasks, short answer written questions, multi-choice questions, producing circuit and wiring drawings and knowledge assignments.
    To apply for this course you will need:
    • Have gained a 2365 Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations (Buildings and Structures) or equivalent qualification
    • A reasonable standard in English and maths
    • To show a keen interest in Electrical Installation work and a motivation and willingness to study and achieve.

    When working in the practical workshops personal protective footwear and overalls will be required at all times. You will also need general classroom equipment to help you take notes.A copy of BS 7671 the requirements for electrical installations (18th Edition).A copy of the IET On-site guide (18th Edition).If you think you would benefit from financial support we have bursary options available for those who meet the criteria.     Free to those under 19 on 31st August 2021. If you are 19 or over on 31st August 2021, have been a permanent resident in the EU for the last 3 years and are a fee paying new entrant you will pay approx. £2000 tuition fee for a Level 2 qualification and approx. £5500 for a Level 3 qualification (these were the fees for 2020/21 and could be subject to change for 2021/22). Fee paying students continuing on the same course for a second year will be charged £2000 tuition fee for a Level 2 qualification and approx. £3500 for a Level 3 qualification (these were the fees for 2020/21 and could be subject to change for 2021/22). If you are aged 19-23 you may also be entitled to free training if the course you choose is your first full Level 2 or Level 3 qualification. You may also be required to pay an administration fee, exam fees, kit fee and an Awarding Body Registration fee if applicable.
