Guided by an experienced artist, this 3 hour workshop introduce you to the fundamentals of oil painting techniques in a supportive and relaxed environment.

Students will work from either a reference image or still life to complete an Alla Prima painting (working wet on wet) using primarily a 3/4 inch brush to encourage broader strokes and a more gestural painterly approach, with the aim of having a completed painting at the end of the session.

This workshop is suitable for all abilities, although some previous painting experience would be beneficial, new and returning students are welcome.

Please bring a 3/4 inch flat synthetic brush with you to the session. Paints can be supplied for anyone new to oil painting, but if you have your own please bring them with you.

A 12 x 14 inch boards will be supplied.

This workshop is scheduled from 10:00 – 13:00 on Saturday 5 July 2025 at our Ware Campus.

All our Art & Design Short Courses are for aged 18+ unless otherwise specified.

All our Art & Design short courses and workshops run subject to reaching minimum numbers. In the event we are unable to run the course/workshop you are booked on to, you will be offered a space on an alternative course or a full refund of the course fee.
