This is a one-year, part-time course which offers a qualification for assessors who are assessing learners in a college or training organisation. This course is based on one unit and is on offer to augment the L3 Assessor Award Unit 301 or the combined L3 Assessor Award Units 301 and 302:
Unit 303 – Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding
This unit assesses a candidate assessor’s competence in assessing the learner’s vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in contexts other than a work environment, for example in a simulated environment, in a workshop or classroom.
The course is offered to those practitioners involved in teaching and training in a variety of settings, including colleges and independent training organisations, whereby assessing learners as part of their professional role are expected to have achieved Level 3 Assessor status. This course is validated by the City and Guilds Awarding Body and is a nationally recognised qualification.
Achieving the L3 Assessor Award qualification, successful candidates are fully qualified to assess learners within their own vocational area and subject specialism, either within the organisation in which they work or as an independent assessor in industry or within the apprenticeship scheme.
