Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are perfect for ambitious people of any age who are looking to gain skills, progress within a career and earn a wage at the same time.

When you first start out in your career you usually need a mix of qualifications and experience. An apprenticeship gives you both in one neat little package! With some apprenticeships you can even get a degree.

It takes between one and four years to complete an apprenticeship depending on which level you take. You can also pick from a range of industries because lots of high quality prestigious companies offer apprenticeships.

The minimum wage for apprentices is set by the Government and increases annually, so make sure you do your research to find out the latest rate. However, many employers pay more than this!

To get started on your apprenticeship journey here's what you can do:

  1. Contact our apprenticeship team who can talk you through the process
  2. Have a 1 to 1 appointment (either face to face or virtually) where the team can assess your eligibility and
  3. find out your interests as well as improving your application and interview skills
  4. Attend job interviews - either ones you've arranged yourself or ones arranged for you by our team

We work with a wide range of employers, so the available vacancies are always changing. The best way to keep an eye on what's out there is by regularly checking our vacancies page here.

Purpose

Hertford Regional College (HRC) is categorised as a medium-sized, general further education college with two main campuses in Broxbourne and Ware.  We offer a wide range of post-16 professional and technical education and training including study programmes for 16- to 19-year-old learners, adult learning programmes, apprenticeships, provision for learners with high needs, higher education and commercial programmes. The College has invested heavily in its estate over the past decade resulting in some of the finest facilities in the Further Education sector.

We offer a broad range of full-time and part-time courses, many funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).

In addition, we offer higher education courses in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire, and offer support to a range of other organisations including the voluntary sector.
